This movie is a comedy about three dads who are all older and going through the struggles of raising children in a society that is changing rapidly. In the movie you find yourself hating and loving the main characters. Half the time you think they are in the right and the rest of the time they are in the wrong. They talk about how people have double standards that they don't even think about. They only realize the things that others are doing, and they think that what they do is not an issue. For example in the movie the dads were fired for some things they said in a car. The person who fired them cared really heavily about certain things like inclusiveness, feminism, and that racism was bad. These are all things that are important, but he took them to the extreme. He was then canceled for something he put on a shirt, something that he didn't even think about. It really shows that everyone can find anything offensive in our society today and, at least what I got from it, that people should chill out a little with how gungho they are about certain things. I liked the movie a lot and think that it is a good watch if you want a comedy that is relevant in today's society. I would give it an 8/10, it misses some points because I feel a lot of it was a little exaggerated. It could be realistic though, my sister tells me some stuff about California and how excessively liberal they are and she herself is, I think, a little too liberal.

I have seen Moana many times, but not recently. I started it at a sleepover last week and only got about 30 minutes in, so I decided to finish it this week. I love this movie, the music, the characters, the story, the animation, the colors. I think it is my favorite recent Disney movie, maybe second to Tangled. Half the reason I love the music is that it is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, he has a specific way of writing that I love. It reminds me of the music from Hamilton, which is not the best musical, but I think has some of the best music. Somehow, I am still able to laugh at the subtle things that the movie does. The chicken, HeiHei, is more or less a useless character, and yet he makes such an impact on the movie. He is stupid which makes him one of the funniest characters in the movie. There is also a scene in the beginning of the movie where a boy is dancing in front of Moana and I think it is Hilarious (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMLkZXMi8sM). The movie somehow makes jokes that are both funny for young children and funny for almost adults. Now back to the music, it is spectacular. The music is really what makes this movie. It is so singable and catchy that I listened to it in the car for the rest of the day. I think the Moana soundtrack is on par with the Frozen soundtrack. I would give Moana a solid 9/10 and if it was my first time watching it I would probably give it a 10/10. I watched this movie this week because I wanted an easy movie that was easy to follow since my last movie was confusing. This movie was pretty good, it did the job of an adventure/mystery movie, but I think there are plenty of other movies that do this better. This movie delivers on following the game, uncharted, and is hilarious and has some great action sequences. I don't think this movie will ever stand up to movies like the National Treasure series, but I think it did a good job on its own. Tom Holland played his role very nicely and the dynamic between him and Mark Wahlberg is phenomenal. The enemy in the movie keeps you anxious, and they interact well with our protagonists. You also get a good story about a growing friendship between Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as they have to start to trust each other in order to get the treasure. You get a pretty satisfying conclusion to the movie and I love National treasure and parts of this movie give me National Treasure vibes which I love. I don't think this movie did it as well as National Treasure for the whole movie, but some parts of the movie were very close to National Treasure and I think they were executed very nicely. The part where Tom Holland was stuck in the water puzzle specifically gave me National Treasure vibes and I think this is part of the reason I liked the movie so much. I know ripping off other movies is not unique or good always, but I think Uncharted did it really nicely and did National Treasure justice in these scenes. I would give Uncharted a 7.9/10 and would recommend it to anyone who likes the National Treasure, Adventurey genre. This movie was good. But I only think I liked it because of the ending. Throughout the movie I was not the most entertained. Despite this the movie kept my mind engaged. This is probably a first for a movie that I actually don't know whether I liked it or whether it was just ok. The movie revolves around a guy who has short term memory loss. He can not make new memories past a certain incident but is able to remember everything that happened before the incident. The structure of the movie is one that I have never seen before and one that really intrigued me. It is really split into two parts. One in color and one is in black and white. The one is color is playing the movie or scenes in reverse order, it shows what is the latest event in the movie (chronologically). The black and white scenes play from the start chronologically. These scenes alternate until you eventually get the final twist at the end. The bad guy switches all the time, and at the end of the movie it becomes difficult to tell who the bad guy really is. The ending made the movie worth it for me, it turns this story, about revenge, on its head, and you really don't know how to feel at the end. The movie kind of reminds me of Inception, is that it is kind of hard to follow and if you watch it again you will likely pick up on things that you didn't notice the first time. These things might lead you to understand the conclusion a little better. In a movie where a character can't form new memories and is always at square one when they lose track of their thoughts is likely to have a couple plot whole, but I think that this movie did a good job at minimizing the plot wholes (to the point where I didn't notice any really). I would recommend this movie to anyone who want a thought-provoking movie and after writing the review, I think I liked the movie a little more than I thought. I watched this movie at Senior retreat which was a good relaxing movie to watch. If I had watched anything more stressful I probably would have quit the movie halfway through. This movie was good, not great, just good. It was funny and brought up things, like how Ron Burgundy read whatever was on the screen without thinking, and used them later in the movie. This is pretty regular of movie though, so it is nothing special. The movie was full of nonsensical humor, anchormen fighting bears, and people dying in bizarre ways. The movie made me laugh which is definitely what the movie was going for. The story was relatively satisfying to watch play out. It followed the enemies to friends sort of plot which usually makes for a good movie. The thing that stuck out to me the most in this movie was the absolutely stacked cast they had. The movie had tons of people who are famous now, but I guess were not that famous during the filming of the movie. The movie featured Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Seth Rogan, Harrison Ford, Kathryn Hahn, Luke Wilson (Owen Wilson's Brother), and even Danny Trejo. These are all actors that I know and grew up watching in different movies, and I was just shocked to see them all in one movie. The movie was a great laugh and I recommend it to anyone who likes humor that is only funny because it is kind of bad. I usually don't like that kind of humor, but I was in that mood during the retreat and I thought it was hilarious. |
