I am rewatching all of these movies in preparation for the new one coming out. I have to say, this movie looked a lot better when I was 7 or 8 and this is what all movies looked like. Don't get me wrong this was a great movie and looked great for how difficult it would be to make the movie, but wow I used to think this movie looked great and now it just looks average. Really goes to show how far technology has come. The story line is pretty good, it is something that could totally happen, man failing on an experiment and it turning out horribly wrong. Or the way I looked at it, amazing because now you can talk with Apes. I see the humans point of view, being afraid of the Apes but also I see that the Apes just want to live in solitude away from Humans. The science and beginning part of the movie is pretty accurate I think. The way in which caesar is raised is pretty similar to an actually chimpanzee which was raise to learn sign language and is intellectually more advanced than most chimpanzees. They definitely did their research on the topic and played it out relatively well. They had nothing to base the rest of the movie on, and I think they did a really good job. My next 2 blogs will likely be about the other two movie as well. Good movie, you should watching it because I know the new one will be really good. It is a little pushy on the humanity is bad and they are fighting instead of trying to be friends but like it's a good movie.

My 10 year old cousins were over at our house all weekend so we decided to watch a Disney movie. Tangled is what got chosen and it is a great movie. The music is my favorite part and really makes the movie for me. Also the subtle humor is great. They make little jokes here and there and their interactions with different animals is also just funny. The ending isn't the best but how they get to the ending is great. There are obviously a lot of things that happen and only happen for the plot and would never happen in real life but honestly that is half of the fun of Disney movie. Somethings happening just for it to happen even when it is illogical for it to happen. Obviously like other Disney movies, there is also an age gap between Rapunzel and Flynn but honestly it wouldn't be that bad in the long run. They are only 8 years apart and technically Rapunzel is an adult by the end of the movie so it's not too weird. This movie is a great movie to watch as a kid and is equally good as an adult/older individual. The crude and monstrous looking men in the tavern are my favorite and I am so happy they help Rapunzel and Flynn at the end of the movie. They are fun and funny and just lovable characters even if they look terrifying. This is also part of the realson I love Tangled, rapunzel is so innocent that she takes everyone to be the best person they could have been. She takes them for the contents of their heart not what they look like. Let's start by saying that I missed the first 20 minutes of this movie and that may have made me like the movie more. Also we watched it in the massive IMAX theater at Newport and it was sick. This next paragraph will try and not spoil anything. You are basically thrown into the movie, or at least I was, but this works well for this movie. This is a movie where you don't really need any background as long as you know basic geography and general knowledge of the US. This movie also took an interesting spin on the Civil War, I figured it would be about a big battle between a separating US. I was not disappointed however to figure out that it was a story about journalists and them trying to capture the war. The cinematography was amazing and the message behind the story was amazing. The movie felt more like they came u with the message they wanted to show and then built a story that would show it rather than having a general idea about the story and pairing it with a message. Now for some spoilers I didn't see the first 20 minutes and this arguably made it better for me. I have been told that they basically just show you a civil war happening and then don't really give you any reason as to why it's happening and which side you should support. This probably would have bugged me, except I was thrown into the movie completely and I basically just made up the bit I missed in my head. This movie was shot beautifully and it had a great sound track. It spared no gore and really showed the horrors that some people will do when they feel scared and do not know who to trust or back. The battles seemed pretty reasonable and nothing too outlandish happened so it didn't feel unreal. The only part that felt unrealistic is how easily the Western Forces seemed to win against the trained military. I know they have the technology and the training that the military had so it's not too unreasonable but I feel like the military that was backing the president would have been stronger. Also the president would not be held up in the White House if this was all actually happening, the president would be in some safe house somewhere. I am now done with spoilers I could probably talk about this movie for like another three paragraphs without even needing to think about what Im writing but I will stop here. I think this movie was great, the cinematography and storytelling was what made it so good but honestly the whole movie was also just great. I think after having a day to digest the movie, it is even better than when I first stepped out of the theater. I would recommend anyone who does not have a weak stomach to gore to watch it and would currently give it a solid 8.5/10 maybe even 9/10. This movie was pretty good. I noticed that they switched up the structure again from the more recent Ghostbuster movies. It more mimics the first one than any of the others. You get the first 75% of the movie being investigation into something and then the last 25% was them solving the issues. This movie was interesting, and it brought the childish and slapstick sort of comedy from the first Ghostbuster and revamped it into a new story with new characters. I also like how they tied in the ghost from the library, as well as the green booger ghost. The tie backs made it feel like the first movie again and it was great. They brought back the old cast and kept them basically how they were in personality, this made the movie so much more entertaining especially since I was able to pick up on them and recall things I had forgotten from the first movie. The Ending was about as satisfying as the first ending, in that it all happened really fast and there was little to no struggle and overcoming that struggle. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing because it I a movie for a younger audience, or the audience that was around for the first movie. Overall if you really want to live the first movie again, then you should totally watch it and enjoy it. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone so you should watch it. I would give it a 8/10, it is so high because I loved the callbacks to the first movie. This movie was great. I love pretty much all movies with Ryan Reynolds in them, and somehow he wasn't even the star of the movie for me. Walker Scobell, who played mini Ryan Reynolds, was easily the funniest and most entertaining character in this movie. He was simply hilarious. His comedic timing and just the jokes in general made me laugh out loud and he really made the movie for me. Like the story line was good and all but the characters is what made the movie. With the story line, you could have cast pretty much anyone and they could have worked in the given part, they chose phenomenally. Walker and Ryan give off the same energy, they play off each other's jokes, and are the perfect characters to play their given parts. It is hard to believe that this is Walker's film debut, he has been acting in tv shows but this was his first movie (I think). This movie was loaded cast wise, having Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, and even Jennifer Garner. This cast really made the movie and I am convinced that the movie would have been a lot worse if they were not the cast. The jokes would not have hit as well, and the overall vibe would have totally been different. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants a feel good movie as this movie will without a doubt make you feel good. I would give it a 7.5/10, and most of this is given because of the cast. Without the cast the movie would have been average, but with the cast the movie was so enjoyable that I didn't even care that the plot was simple and repeatable. This movie was great. I love a good Nolan movie, especially one where you are given the ending and left wondering the events that led to that final scene. I went into this movie not expecting much, for some reason I also thought it was about a pianist. This was immediately changed when we started watching it. The opening sequence where Hugh Jackman dies reveals the perfect amount of information while still holding back enough to keep you wondering throughout the movie. I also loved the structure of the movie, it reminded me of Memento. It flipped between the present, the past, and a different present, and a different past. You follow both Angier and Borden as they grow in hatred towards each other, and them as they read their individual journals. It was a sick structure and this really helped me stay entertained throughout the movie. I also really liked how Angier developed throughout the story, like he used to not get his hands dirty and then throughout the movie he slowly started to get his hands more and more dirty until he is literally killing himself each time he preforms the magic trick. I also like that Borden's assistant was his twin and committed to the vanishing man trick enough to cut his fingers off. Overall the movie was great and I would recommend it to any and everyone. It felt very Christopher Nolan and it was a beautiful movie none-the-less. I would give the movie a 9/10 and that is being less than generate. This movie was really confusing at first because I showed up like 15 minutes into the movie and was not aware that this was a Nicolas Cage movie about Nicolas Cage. After the part I missed was explained to me, I found the movie very enjoyable and cool. There were a couple things that if I was being a nitpick about I would say that I disliked. For example, the acting of the FBI agents were terrible. They did not really give FBI vibes, and they were obviously acting. Other than them, the acting was really good. Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal were both amazing. Their LCD scene was very believable and hilarious. Overall, the acting was pretty good considering the people who appeared the most were good actors. The concept of the show was good, I liked how they were coming up with a movie as they were acting it out and then the end of the movie was them watching the movie they made. The cut from their life to the movie was really good and made sense without needing to be explained. I also really like how they were watching paddington 2 at the end of the movie as a family, because I love that movie. Overall I would say that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it was funny, well thought out, and the acting was good enough. Even without the opening scenes (first 15 ish minutes), I was not confused (as soon as I was told a brief summary). I watched it with a group of guys and it was totally a guy movie that you could talk over. Let me start out by saying this may be the best looking movie I have ever seen. It is visually so appealing and even if the story sucked, I would have still liked this movie. Luckily the story did not suck, and I enjoyed it for more than just its looks. This movie follows a girl named Violet Evergreen in the time of WWII. She is a doll, a girl who writes letters for people who are illiterate. It follows her as she navigates her life and eventually writes letters for a mother who is dying. This is the sequel for a the TV show Violet Evergarden although you don't have to have seen the series to like the movie. The movie kind of flashes between romance and slice of life, and although not much happens I found the whole movie very enjoyable. This movie is sad, romantic, and happy. It has Violet's backstory, which is sad as she was involved in the WW. It also has Violet's actions in everyday which although is not romantic by nature, is portrayed in a romantic way. You also get a bunch of laughter and friendship that makes the movie happy. Lastly this movie is beautifully animated. This movie was done in 2020 and as far as I know received no recognition for it, which I think is a shame. This movie, in my opinion, could have easily be at out any other movie for prettiest animation, if this was a category in and awards. I have not seen any animation as nice as this, it was fluid, stunning, and the sound design paired with it made it feel surreal. The animation is what made this movie so good and honestly I am sad they have not made any sequels as the movie ended in a way that could have set up another movie. If I had to give this movie a rating, I would rate it a 8.5/10, the animation is a 10/10 but the story is a 7/10. Although the story is beautiful, not a lot happens. If I was in the mood for a movie like that, then I would have been completely ok with that, and honestly the story would have probably been a 9/10 for me, but I wanted a little more to happen. The movie was great and I recommend it to anyone who is willing to watch anime and would want to watch one. I enjoyed this, I went in knowing it would be depressing and it still shocked me when everything went down. The whole movie you think it is going in one direction and then it takes a rapid and sudden switch. It is hard to talk about the plot without spoiling any parts of it o instead I will simply talk about the animation. The animation is beautiful. You could take a screenshot of any part of this movie and you would think it was an art project (which I guess it is). Although the foreground, mainly the characters, looked plain, the backgrounds were vivid and made your brain sort of tingle with pleasure. The characters being plain was done for a reason, it sort of coincides with the plot so I will not spoil that either. Overall this movie was great, it will make you sad but it is worth a watch. It is not what you think of when you think of anime and if you are open to it you should give it a try. This movie was amazing. Lets start with looks. It was beautifully animated, using so many different types of animation and styles that somehow seamlessly flowed between each other. I loved how each universe had a different animation style and how the bad guys from those worlds kept their styles. I noticed this in the fist Miles Morales Spiderman, but it was way more apparent in this one. Everything was amazingly animated and I can say that I do not have any issues with this movies animation Now lets talk plot. This movie had such a great plot that they decided to continue this story into another movie that has not come out yet. This annoyed me because the pacing of the movie is brilliant and I had no clue that the end was coming up and then suddenly I am looking at a to be continued screen. The 2 hrs that I spelt watching this movie felt more like an hour and that was refreshing in a movie. The story works great with the characters. Miles is going through a teenage rebellious stage and life crisis, and all the things he is witnessing on his journey into other verses are pointing him in what the audience sees as the the clear right choice. Miles is balancing so much on his plate and the movie does a great job at portraying this in a fun yet real way. Now characters. We get an antagonist early in the movie by the name of spot and yet he never really feels like a villain. He seems more like the comic releif before the hero fights the real villain, and yet his is somehow still the villain. This movie really doesn't focus on him much at all though. He is the villain in the whole story but not in this movie specifically. In this movie I would say that Miguel is the villain and antagonist in this movie. And yet he is also a Spiderman who is a hero. It is a weird balance and it really works with the story and Miles's character development. |
